About the role

Want your work to really matter? At Elections BC, your leadership in IT infrastructure will directly support free and fair elections across British Columbia. As Team Lead, Technical Services, you will lead a dedicated group of IT professionals responsible for the design, implementation, and maintenance of the organization’s server and network infrastructure. You will also be responsible for ensuring the proper operation and monitoring of all corporate networks, including security infrastructure such as firewalls. Reporting to the Director, IT Technical Services, the Team Lead, Technical Services, will oversee the delivery of secure, reliable, and scalable infrastructure services critical to the integrity of the electoral process.

Elections BC has a hybrid work model where staff are supported to work 3 days per week in the Victoria office and 2 days from home, when operationally feasible. All staff work in office full time during electoral events. Job Requirements

To be considered for this position, you must legally be eligible to work in Canada. Eligibility to work in Canada is granted through citizenship, permanent resident status, or a work permit.

 

Education and experience:

·      Degree, diploma, certification in computer science, software engineering, information systems, or a related field and two years of progressive, recent, related experience* in an information technology field; OR

       o Coursework leading towards a degree, diploma or certification in a related field and more than two years experience*; OR                         Three or more years recent, related experience*.

*Recent, related experience must include: 

·         *Recent, related experience must include:

o   Managing technical projects, developing action plans, and leading project teams in a large

     enterprise environment.

o   Assessing customer requirements, developing and implementing technical and business solutions.

o   Working with Windows and Unix servers, firewalls, desktops, software and hardware configurations, and web

     services like Apache, HTTPS, and WordPress.

o   Working with Windows PowerShell and Linux scripting, including Linux and Microsoft security protocols and

     best practices.

o   Working with M365/Azure Active Directory (Entra ID) and Windows server Active directory services.

o   Supervising and developing staff.

 

Preference may be given to applicants with:

·         Certification or completed training in CISSP, or CISM.

·         IT experience in electoral administration.
