About the role
The Audit Manager will oversee the audit program related to the 2026 General Local Elections and the financial reports submitted by political participants for this event.
Our ideal applicant is an experienced CPA with a proven foundation in accounting and auditing. Expertise in public facing, politically sensitive portfolios is preferred. This role requires a fine balance of mentoring accounting professionals within the team and conducting audits that are sensitive in nature and could result in corrective action in cases of non-compliance.

Elections BC has a hybrid work model where staff are supported to work 3 days per week in the Victoria office and 2 days from home, when operationally feasible. Staff work in office full time during electoral events. We believe that flexibility in where we work supports our culture of community and work-life balance, while maintaining productivity, engagement and collaboration. Our office is located conveniently on the edge of downtown Victoria away from the hustle and bustle of the city, but close enough to walk to coffee shops, restaurants and amenities. We have bike storage and a large deck to enjoy sunny days.
Please note the following are vacation blackout dates for the 2026 Local General Elections:
November 2 – 6, 2026; January 4 – 29, 2027; February 1 – 5, 2027. There is limited time off from February 8, 2027, to April 30, 2027, based on team structure and workload.
Job Requirements
To be considered for this position, you must legally be eligible to work in Canada. Eligibility to work in Canada is granted through citizenship, permanent resident status, or a work permit.
Education and experience:
• A professional accounting designation (i.e. Canadian Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) or an equivalent international accounting designation with eligibility for membership in good standing with CPA BC) and a minimum of 3 years of *recent relevant experience (within the last 5 years); OR
• An internal audit designation (i.e. CIA) and a minimum of 3 years of *recent relevant experience (within the last 5 years)
*Recent, relevant experience (within the last 5 years) must include:
o Experience conducting audits, including responsibility for planning, conducting, and reporting of audit/assurance activities.
o Experience managing or leading audit project teams.
o Experience leading concurrent complex projects.
o Experience interpreting and applying legislation, regulations, policies, and procedures to determine appropriate course of action.
Preference may be given to applicants with:
• Previous experience working for Elections BC or other electoral management body.
• Preference may be given to candidates with experience with compliance and regulatory audits.
